Numerical solution of the equation of radiative equilibrium
Abstract
The equation of radiative transfer in a planeparallel structure is numerically solved. The unknowns are the temperature at every node. The matrix representation of the integral is derived and the quadrature formula and mean absorption coefficient are presented. The radiation intensity with linear interpolation in the finite elements and the equation of radiative equilibrium are addressed. The cases of gray and nongray atmosphere are considered, and the application of the picketfence model is discussed.
