Micro-optics optical-heterodyne fiber gyro with drift compensation
Abstract
The miniaturized setup of the Optical-Heterodyne Fiber Gyro, which had been proposed and experimented by the authors of the University of Tokyo, has been newly constructed by using the Micro-optics Technology. This gyro configuration has the features that highly stabilized scale-factor and wide dynamic range can be realized by the phase nulling utilizing the Optical Heterodyne detection, and that the frequency output proportional to the input rotation rate can be obtained. The dominant drift source in the experimental setup previously presented has been found to be the thermal fluctuation of the acoustic-wave velocity in the ADM for the Optical Heterodyne. In the newly constructed Micro-optics setup, a novel scheme has been adopted to reduce this drift.
