High-voltage helical hollow cathode copper ion laser
Abstract
The influence of the coil pitch on the laser oscillation parameters of copper ion lines using a helical hollow cathode design are investigated. A rapid growth of the laser gain with increasing pitch is demonstrated. A 40% per meter gain coefficient of the 780.8 nm copper ion line at 20 A peak current is measured. Simultaneous oscillation on 7 IR copper ion lines and 2 krypton ion lines from 15 cm active length is obtained.
