The influence of surface roughness on the polarization after electron capture by beam-foil interaction
Abstract
Electron capture calculations used to determine the Stokes parameters have so far been done only for ideally flat surfaces with the foil normal in the scattering plane. We extend this calculation for target normals pointing out of the scattering plane. The surface roughness is simulated by averaging the electron capture matrix over certain distributions of the surface normals, which leads to modifications in the calculated polarizations.
