Stars - Their birth, life, and death (3rd revised and enlarged edition)
Abstract
Consideration is given to what is regarded as the central problem of astronomy - the physics of stars. The final stage of stellar evolution is of considerable interest because of its relation to such objects as pulsars, X-ray stars, and black holes. It is noted that much remains to be learned before the many questions concerning these objects can be answered. Stress is therefore placed on what is known rather than on the various theories and hypotheses. Particular attention is given to the formation of stars.
