Interstellar Element Abundances in the Direction of τ Tauri
Abstract
From two high-resolution IUE spectra equivalent widths of the interstellar lines seen towards τ Tau (d = 110 pc) are derived. An empirical curve-of-growth based on Fe II- Si II-lines is used to derive column densities. On comparing the relative element abundances to solar values one finds Si, Fe, Mg, and Mn to be depleted whereas others like S or Zn seem almost undepleted.
