Create a millimeter-wave vector-measurement system
Abstract
A new tool for millimeter-wave design engineers is a test system which is capable fo performing complex impedance measurements in real time. The millimeter-wave scattering-parameter test set utilizes the stabilities of the 47850H synthesized source and a phase-locked Gunn oscillator to provide accurate phase and magnitude readings. The approaches used for building a bridge are discussed along with the conduction of measurements in real time, and correction with the aid of a computer. Attention is given to the hybrid mixers integrated into the downconversion bridge, the phase and amplitude performances of the S-parameter test set, the examination of a millimeterwave phase shifter, and the phase performance of the 94-GHz injection-locked-oscillator amplifier.
