EHF satcom terminal antennas. II
Abstract
Predominant importance in the selection of an EHF antenna system approach have pointing and tracking considerations. Pointing accuracies required by EHF applications in combination with the operational scenarios of platform dynamics require pointing accuracy similar to the accuracies associated with precision fire control radar. The major system factors for both pure-pointing and tracking modes are identified with the aid of a graph. Attention is given to antenna structures, EHF radomes, a mobile platform antenna, and an EHF hybrid scan array. A two-foot diameter surface ship antenna is considered along with a dual-frequency offset feed antenna, a frequency selective surface, and an integrated 20-GHz pseudomonopulse tracking feed.
