Planning the 12 GHz broadcasting satellite service in Region 2
Abstract
In the mid 1970s, the planning of the use of the geostationary orbit for the 12 GHz broadcasting satellite service and its associated feeder links began. In 1981, it was decided to hold a Region 2 planning conference in 1983. Attention is given to the objectives of the planning process, the development of the plan, questions regarding the assigned capacity, detailed characteristics, the dynamics of the plan, and comments on Region 2 orbit capacity. It is pointed out that the Region 2 broadcasting-satellite 12 GHz plan which was formulated at the 1983 Regional Administrative Radio Conference in Geneva met all stated channel requirements, a total of 1144 assigned channels.
