Convective mechanism for the formation of a jet flow
Abstract
Experimental results on the formation of a jet flow in an annular rotating cuvette heated from below are presented with reference to jet streams in the atmosphere and ocean (especially the subtropical jet stream). It is shown that vertical convective rings induce horizontal flow along the axis of the cuvette ring. Trajectories of fluid particle motion are constructed for two rotation velocities.
