Kinematics and morphology of the planetary nebula NGC 650-651.
Abstract
Radial velocities are obtained at 160 points over the face of the planetary nebula NGC 650-651 using the photographic Fabry-Pérot technique in the emission lines Hα and [N II] λ6584. The splitting of the interference rings at 24 points on the PN from four interferograms indicates an overall radial expansion of 42 - 44 km s-1. The velocity data are consistent with those previously obtained by other authors; however, the model the authors propose differs essentially from the models suggested so far. They invoke magnetic phenomena to explain the velocity data known to date as well as the symmetrical morphology of NGC 650-651.
