Principles of over-the-horizon radar
Abstract
The scientific and technical principles of decameter-wave over-the-horizon radar are elaborated. Particular consideration is given to: the radar equations; methods for calculating radar damping; the effective target scattering area; noise-reduction techniques for decameter-wave radar; detection and parameter estimation of signals on a background of noise with an unknown energy angular spectrum; and principles for the design of over-the-horizon radar.
