Continuum mechanics

The book contains the main body of Kilchevskii's work in the fields of shell and plate theory, collision of deformable solids, and analytical mechanics of systems involving different states of aggregation. In particular, attention is given to studies in the nonclassical mechanics of shells in which analytical methods are proposed for solving systems of differential and integral equations of shell theory without resorting to auxiliary deformation hypotheses. The contact interactions between elastic and nonelastic bodies are investigated with allowance for thermomechanical and electromechanical effects associated with impact. Papers are also included which are concerned with the fundamentals of the Lagrangian and Hamiltonian mechanics of continua and its applications to complex problems in the aerotherhydrodynamics and mechanics of deformable solids.
