Coverage analysis for distributed events
Abstract
An efficient coverage program has been developed to analyze the ability of a constellation of satellites to observe events distributed in space and random in time of occurrence. All possible viewing geometries are presented in a single set of plots such that a comprehensive evaluation of the performance of the satellite(s) can be made in a timely and cost-effective fashion. The basic technique is described in detail, and a number of applications with different sensor types and targets are discussed.
