A calculation of the vibrational temperature of nitrogen and of the gas temperature in an electric discharge in air
Abstract
An approximate analytical solution is presented for a system of kinetic equations describing changes in the vibrational energy of nitrogen molecules and in the gas temperature in a glow discharge in air. The solution obtained for the gas temperature range 290-500 K agrees to within 1 percent with the results of a numerical solution to the initial system of equations. The approximate equations proposed can be used in designing electric-discharge devices.
