The shielding of heat fluxes during the radiation-convection heating of bodies in high-enthalpy gas flows
Abstract
The radiation-convection heat transfer in hypersonic flows of various gases past smooth blunted bodies and the shielding properties of the gaseous ablation products of the heat-insulating materials are investigated analytically and experimentally. Efficient analytical methods are proposed which are based on physically justified simplified theoretical descriptions of processes involving transformations of the radiation flux in the boundary layer. The approach proposed here can be used for determining the integral characteristics of radiation fields in various problems involving flows of high-temperature multicomponent gases under conditions of large temperature and concentration gradients.
