The ITALSAT programme
Abstract
The purpose of Italy's ITALSAT program is the formulation of communication satellite system features applicable to a late-1990s implementation date. This will be accomplished through experimentation with digital data links at 20/30 Ghz. The main network architecture is based on a six-region coverage of Italian territory using two multibeam satellite antennas. The system will employ TDMA, with 147.5 Mbit/s. All links will use QPSK modulation. Attention is given to ITALSAT spacecraft design characteristics.
