Correction due to a finite permittivity for a ring resonator in free space
Abstract
Extensive studies have been conducted regarding the characteristics of a dielectric resonator of high permittivity, which is an important component of microwave circuits. A solution for arbitrary permittivity, epsilon(r), requires the solution of the field problem for each epsilon(r) encountered in practice. The introduction of a perturbational approach makes it possible to avoid this cumbersome procedure. However, the perturbational approach in its present form has certain limitations with respect to a use in the case of current resonators. This investigation has the objective to extend the limit of applicability of the perturbational approach by evaluating higher order terms in the employed series.
