An orthogonal mode (dual-sense) helical antenna
Abstract
The feasibility of obtaining both senses of circular polarization from a single helical antenna element is demonstrated. This is accomplished by adding a second feed point at the opposite end of the helix from that normally used. The design and operation of the antenna are briefly presented, and experimental results from a model of the antenna situated in a conical surround are given. Radiation patterns at the design frequency of 5.06 Hz are shown, and gain difference data are reported.
