Effects of mutual coupling in conical horn arrays
Abstract
The paper considers the copolar and crosspolar radiation patterns of a finite array of conical horn elements in which full account is taken of the effects of mutual coupling. Mutual coupling between, respectively, the TE(11)- and TE(21)-, and the TE(11)- and TM(01)-modes has a marked effect on copolar pattern symmetry and on the level of crosspolarisation. Contour plots are given for 'clean-beam' excitation of the arrays, and the influence of horn aperture size is shown to be significant.
