Narrow-band injection locking of a spectrally dense molecular laser system - HgBr (B to X)
Abstract
Shay et al. (1981, 1982) have reported experiments on the injection locking behavior of a discharge pumped HgBr laser, taking into account the spectral tuning, intensity saturation, and linewidth behavior of the locked output when injecting in a 1 per cm bandwidth. The present investigation is concerned with new measurements involving the use of a dye laser with Delta omega (FWHM) = 0.015 per cm. These measurements now show essentially complete injection locking in a 0.02 per cm bandwidth. A description of the results of the measurements is presented, and an analysis based on a steady-state diffusion model of the HgBr B 2 Sigma rotational manifold coupled to the laser flux is conducted.
