Prediction of periodic boundary layers
Abstract
An implicit finite difference procedure for predicting time-dependent boundary layer flows has been developed. The method is demonstrated to be accurate at small and large frequencies and at all amplitudes, and even when there is flow reversal during a part of the cycle in a periodic laminar flow. When applied to a simple turbulent flow, its predictions show good agreement with available experimental results.
