Equations of state for alpha-, gamma-Fe2SiO4, FeSiO3 and their phase relations at high pressures
Abstract
A modified version of a potentials method is used to formulate equations of state for fayalite, spinel, and ferrosite at high temperatures (2000 K) and pressures. On the basis of the equations, calculations were made of the change in standard free energy of the phase transition between fayalite and spinel at about 300 kbar and 1000-1800 K. The phase relations between iron silicates at 98 kbar and 1190 K are also studied.
