Anisotropic Bragg cells
Abstract
This paper describes the design, fabrication and testing of anisotropic bulk wave Bragg cells with a 1 GHz bandwidth. The methods of design of the Bragg cell are discussed in terms of simple theoretical models. Devices were fabricated to the resultant design in batches of six, using lithium niobate shear wave transducers bonded to lithium niobate cell bodies. Fabrication methods are outlined and experimental results are presented for the devices for bandwidth, efficiency, return loss, power handling capability and burn-out power.
