Data-transmission pulses for duobinary systems
Abstract
A novel time-domain approach for synthesizing duobinary signaling pulses is presented. The proposed procedure leads to pulses which have maximum energy concentration in a given bandwidth. The results obtained from two distinct optimization runs show that the resulting duobinary signaling pulses are very bandwidth-efficient. With some slight modifications, the technique could be generalized to synthesize a more general class of partial response signaling pulses.
