Results of ULF-wave investigations in the USSR
Abstract
International Magnetospheric Study investigations of ULF waves are summarized. Studies of global distribution of ULF waves, using meridional and latitudinal chains of stations, as well as regional ones with specific arrangements of observation points; simultaneous studies of ULF waves on the ground and on satellites; investigations of ULF-waves at high latitudes; methods of diagnosing solar wind parameters and processes in the magnetosphere using results on the morphology and correlative ties of ULF waves with other geophysical phenomena; and studies of the structure and inhomogeneities of solar wind streams from different sources on the Sun are discussed.
