Transformation of inhomogeneous surface waves by obliques screens
Abstract
A study is made of electromagnetic field scattering resulting from the interaction between an inhomogeneous surface wave propagating in a planar dielectric waveguide and a periodic structure rotated to an arbitrary angle relative to the propagation direction of the surface wave. The results of the study suggest an effective way to control the propagation direction of both bulk and surface diffraction waves in an electromagnetic structure of this kind. Radiation patterns are presented for the aperture studied. A surface-to-bulk wave conversion efficiency in excess of 95 percent is demonstrated.
