A new Vuilleumier minicryorefrigerator
Abstract
A new design for a Vuilleumier minicryorefrigerator is described. The refrigerator consists of two sealed cylindrical vessels each with a built-in displacer and a driving magnetic linkage between the displacers. It has ventilation cooling, and driving by linear alternating magnetic force which is free from oil contamination. The design is based on experience gained from building Stirling minirefrigerators and incorporates an innovation by which the crank lever mechanism is mounted outside the work chamber. The major technical parameters of the refrigerator are as follows: lowest temperature achieved 69 K, temperature of heat supply 890 K, input heat power 75 W, pressure when gas-filled 30 kg/sq cm, time for cool down 1.5 h.
