Centre-to-limb variation of CH line profile parameters
Abstract
Published data on four CH line intensity profiles at mu = 1.0 and mu = 0.2 on the solar disk are subjected to Fourier-transform analysis. The results are presented in graphs and a table and briefly characterized. The macroturbulent velocity is calculated as 4.0 km/s, and the ratio of the Gaussian Doppler-width parameter at the center to that at the limb is found to average 1.03, calling into question the hypothesis that macroturbulence is radial-tangential only and anisotropic (Gray, 1977).
