Re-Investigation of the Periodic and Long-Term Radial-Velocity Variations of the Be Star ζ Tau (HD 37202)
Abstract
Published 20th-century observations of the periodic and long-term H I radial-velocity variation of Zeta Tau are compiled in tables and graphs and analyzed. The ephemeris is calculated as T(primary eclipse) = JD 2,415,549.638 + 132.9735 d x E, and the He I velocities are found to be in phase with the H I velocities and have a similar amplitude. The binary parameters are estimated, the most likely values being mass = 11.2 solar mass, spectral type = Be le. and Roche-lobe radius = 147 solar radius for the primary and 1.4 solar mass, G8 and 53 solar radius, respectively, for the secondary.
