Solution and linear and nonlinear equations by optical methods
Abstract
An entirely optical method is proposed for solving linear and nonlinear equations. A possible implementation of a simultaneous equation solver (or equivalently an integral equation solver) is discussed. Two methods of matrix by matrix multiplication using random phase masks are proposed and shown to enable the optical solution of matrix equations (or equivalently the solution of 2D integral equations) as well as nonlinear equations.
