Detection of a slowly moving coronal transient event
Abstract
Data are presented from the K-III coronameter which show the development of a bright coronal structure over a period of 3 hours. Interpreting the upward motion as movement within the plane of the sky, the velocity inferred for the event is 14 km s-1. The amount of material removed from the corona at the site of this event over a period of 24 hours is of the order of 1015 grams. It is concluded that this event was an extremely slow coronal mass ejection transient.
