Theory of the motion of Vellade (126)
Abstract
The internal variant of the generalized problem of three fixed centers is applied to determine an intermediate orbit for the asteroid 126 Vellade, extending the method of Arazov and Gabibov (1979) to account, in a first approximation, for the secular perturbations of all the outer planets. The results are presented in tables and compared with those obtained by numerical integration and with observations over a 75-yr period. It is shown that intermediate orbits determined by the present method for nonresonant asteroids with a between 2.15 and 4.26 are more useful starting points for dynamic investigations than the corresponding Keplerian intermediate orbits.
