Investigation of the daily variation of the pulse rates of atmospherics at 10 and 27 kHz
Abstract
From one-year-measurements of VLF-atmospherics at 10 and 27 kHz (May 1978 to April 1979), the mean daily variation of the pulse rates per hour is derived. For the 10 kHz-activity a complex daily course of high stability is found with a minimum at night. The 27 kHz-activity on the other hand shows a significant minimum near 09 MEZ and a smooth maximum at the evening hours. Between about 02 and 05 MEZ the pulse rates at 27 kHz exceed 10 kHz up to 50 percent on the average.
