A quasivariational principle for fluid-solid interaction
Abstract
A novel, unified quasi-variational principle is derived for the strong interaction of a viscous incompressible fluid of finite extent and an elastic solid immersed in that fluid. A standard basis is thereby provided for obtaining direct, approximate solutions to the coupled vibrations of both of these media at high frequencies.
