Transfer of Lyman-alpha radiation in filamentary prominences
Abstract
A theoretical study is made of the excitation of the two-level hydrogen atom in a filamentary prominence for various values of electron density and temperature. Distributions of relative populations of the second level are obtained for prominences with different optical thicknesses and filling factors.
