Reflection and conversion of normal modes at the interface of regions with different impedances
Abstract
Consideration is given to a problem involving the field of a vertical electric dipole situated on a two-piece spherical surface. The method of successive approximations is used to obtain a solution with allowance for reflections, making it possible to represent the solution as a multiple contour integral. Expressions are obtained for the coefficients of the conversion and reflection of normal modes from a sharp interface of regions with different impedances, as well as for their asymptotics near the interface of homogeneous regions. Attention is given to mode conversion and reflection in the case of the existence of degenerate normal modes.
