Transient response of an infinite cylindrical antenna in a dissipative medium
Abstract
The transient response of an infinite cylindrical antenna in a dissipative medium due to an exponential waveform excitation is calculated via an exact solution in the form of definite integrals, and a simple and accurate asymptotic formula. The transmission line solution is shown to be a limiting case of the exact solution obtained. By-products of this study include extension of a general asymptotic method to a more-complicated integral and evaluation of a new definite integral.
