A hybrid computer algorithm for temperature distribution analysis of irregular two dimensional shapes
Abstract
The present investigation is concerned with research which was initiated as a study of a Monte Carlo method for solving linear partial differential equations. The special case of the boundary value problem for the two-dimensional Laplace equation in a square is considered. A hybrid system involving a digital and an analog computer was employed with the aim to make a more rapid solution of the problem possible. Attention is given to the basis of the conducted experiments, details regarding the results of the experiments, an expansion of the methodology to include irregular contour shapes, experimental computer runs, and recommendations with respect to further research.
