Seasat tracking over Europe
Abstract
The organization, aims, and results of European compaigns to track the Seasat oceanic remote-sensing satellite by 162/324-MHz Doppler-range-rate and laser-ranging measurements during 1978-1979 are surveyed. The tracking facilities are listed in tables and shown on maps; the organizational structure is characterized; and the Seatoc, Nordsoc, and Seatrack campaigns are described in detail. Coordinate results are presented in tables, and the value of the experience gained for future tracking efforts such as ERS-1 and Topex is considered.
