A tensor constitutive equation for turbulent flow
Abstract
A tensor constitutive relationship for the Reynolds stress tensor R(ij) involving components of mean flow strain rates is established, and his analyses confirm existence at ""sufficient distances from boundaries in space and time''. Results are given for three dimensional, steady, turbulent flowfield distributions in geometric configurations wherein the mean flow is essentially unidirectional, i.e., predominantly parallel to one (curvilinear) coordinate direction.
