The role of sampling techniques in antenna measurements
Abstract
The application of a sampling theorem to the computation of radiation diagrams for reflector antenna systems is discussed. It is shown that the sampling theorem provides and efficient approximation of the electromagnetic field of the antenna at a given range for an appropriate number of samples. In order to confirm the utility of the method, an algorithm is developed for the computation of the field of the Intelsat V reflector antenna, and the sampling reconstructions are given. A pseudo-sampling approach to the representation of the field of a focusing antenna is also described.
