Steady state performance of single-phase reaction motor
Abstract
A single-phase reaction motor is a small machine which is to obtain synchronous speed. It consists of two-phase stator windings and squirrel cage rotor windings similar to a single-phase induction motor. The reaction motor has a series condenser which is connected to the auxiliary winding to obtain starting torque, and has a saliency on the rotor to be driven at synchronous speed. Current and torque properties of the reaction motor are described at synchronous speed, asynchronous speed, and at standstill by solving the voltage equation of stator and rotor windings. The current and torque show reasonably close agreement with the experimental results.
