Basic research in electronics (JSEP) Joint Services Electronics Program
Abstract
Investigations in electromagnetics, solid state electronics, and information electronics are summarized. Topics cover: physical effects involving open dielectric structures; wave interactions and absorption resonances on open lossy structures; nonuniform open dielectric waveguides: transitions and tapers; collective formulation of wave phenomena for guiding and transmission; high power microwave-atmosphere interactions; enhancement of inelastic optical processes on small and ultra-small solid structures; surface structural properties of metals and conduction-electron surface scattering; X-ray coupled wave interactions at crystal surfaces; single-layer and multilayer thin films, their fabrication processes and their electronic, acoustic, and optical properties; adaptive filtering and spectral estimation; and robust methods in pattern recognition, image processing, and classification and estimation problems.
