Analysis of a polarization diversity meteorological radar design
Abstract
Design and modification efforts have been undertaken in order to incorporate a polarization diversity feature in the U.S. Air Force Geophysics Laboratory's 10-cm wavelength coherent weather radar. Attention is given to the requisite design features of this radar's antenna, microwave package, and receiver. The radar is ultimately to be capable of coherent operation in both the circular depolarization ratio and differential reflectivity modes.
