HF skywave radar - Current progress
Abstract
For approximately 30 years, experimental investigations have been conducted to study the potential of HF skywave radar. The investigations included an observation of the remote landmass and the remote sea surface, applications related to oceanographical and meteorological remote sensing, a study of auroral behavior, and the remote interrogation of free-floating oceanographic sensor/beacons. Attention is given to environmental factors influencing performance capabilities, the effect of equipment factors on performance, details concerning the applications of HF skywave radar, the Jindalee experimental radar, remote sensing applications, and future developments.
