High efficiency feed horn for integrated antenna for primary-secondary radars
Abstract
The design and performance of a high-efficiency integrated primary-SSR radar antenna based on a dual-polarized dual-frequency feed horn are reported and illustrated with drawings, photographs, and antenna patterns. An experimental antenna operating in the D band for the primary and at 1.03 and 1.09 GHz for the SSR with isolation of 40 dB or more between primary and SSR ports is described in detail. D-band, 1.03-GHz, and 1.09-GHz gains area measured as 32, 27, and 26.5 dB, respectively, with respective beamwidths 3.3, 4.2, and 4.2 deg; elevation coverage 0-20 deg, and sidelobe levels -21.8, -22, and -22.8 dB.
