Linear theory of laminar multicomponent mixing layers in the presence of a pressure gradient
Abstract
The paper examines the flow of a multicomponent compressible gas in laminar mixing layers arising from the intense injection of gases from the surface of the body in the flow or from the mixing of concurrent streams. A particular case is examined which involves the formation of the mixing layer as the result of the flow of a binary-mixture of incompressible heat-conducting gases past a blunt body and the injection of a similar gas mixture from its surface. An asymptotic solution is obtained assuming a small difference in flow parameters at the boundaries and inside the mixing layer.
