An accurate analysis of the emission from a semiconductor laser and its application to excitation of an optical waveguide
Abstract
An accurate numerical analysis is presented of the emission from a semiconductor laser beyond the paraxial region which incorporates the iterative procedure into Lewin's method. The application of a very similar procedure to the excitation of an optical waveguide by laser emission is discussed. The numerical results show that the method converges very fast and that power conservation is sufficiently satisfied. The method can be extended to analyze asymmetric structures.
