Turbulent flow over a rectangular cavity
Abstract
A numerical and experimental investigation of turbulent flow over a rectangular cavity is reported. The numerical portion uses a Schwarz-Christoffel transformation for the centerline flow with the free shear layer represented by periodic insertion of point vortices near the separation point. The evolution of the point of view. A vortex decaying function based upon the turbulent energy spectrum equation is introduced to simulate the viscous dissipation effect on a point vortex. The experimenntal portion of the research consists of examining the rectangular cavity flow field with flow visualization and hot wire anemometry techniques.
